Jaquan Sayres @ 1078 gallery!

Wow is all I can really say. Jaquan took 1078 gallery by storm tonight! Singing songs he has wrote himself and amazing everyone with his amazing lyrics and upbeat personality! Knowing Jaquan since high school I always knew he was a great performer and musician but nothing compared tonight, he told perfect stories that kept the audience very involved and entertained. His set list contained all the songs on his demo and he played them with ease and passion, with a packed audience every song struck a cord in your body sending you mind into amazing visuals. At the end of the night he got asked to play again and I think really got the confidence to go on with performing. He is one of the best performers I have seen and I'm very proud of him!

Freshside radio!

Sunday night I tuned into a local radio show put on by a local band hooliganz and new recording studio hooliwood records. Where my favorite miss SasaMae is getting signed. It was a great show mixed with local artists and popular songs, they also threw in some interesting talk about celebrities and fun things about the Grammys! Not to mention they gave away 1000$, and many holliganz gift packages (I won one!!) They record from their new studio on mangrove right next to S&S produce and their show airs every two weeks so tune in next time to see SasaMae take on BabyD in a rap battle! Hitting a wall.

Today has been quite the day! Lots of thinking of my future and the large mountain I will have to climb! Though it is tough to imagine it has given me a insane excitement to continue and continue even harder! I am paying attention to more things before listening to the musician on the sidewalk downtown hearing their sound more than ever! I even went on a youtube adventure and found a few new awesome artists that I hopefully will start following and giving advise too! http://www.youtube.com/user/MarissaKateMusic her song broken glass is very unique and she has a fantastic calm voice that I love! I could see her in a calm coffee shop on a rainy day! such a picture that was painted in my mind while listening to her! Let me know what YOU think!

Thinking...Thinking....Thinking

While in my woman's history class the other day I was thinking about everything BESIDES women's history. From work to volunteer and finally to what I actually want to do with my life! Scary right? Most people don't know but I am double majoring in Music Industry and Sustainability both help drive my focus but I am torn on what I want to do! There is so much I could be doing while in class or doing homework, don't worry I will not be dropping out but its tempting :p! I have so many plans I want to go through with so I started making a list, and boy did that list grow long! I am starting small right now and moving to the more important things over the summer when I have more time. Right now I am working with Jaquan Sayres https://www.facebook.com/pages/Jaquan-Sayres/318174308193951 before his first show at 1078 Gallery march 2! We have some serious work to do :) But I am ready to take it on full speed!

My mind is full of music!

Im so excited to be starting this music blog! For so long I have wanted to keep people updated on local and not so local new artists, I love sharing new talent and watching the artist grow from the comments of strangers who love their music. I will be visiting local open mic events and concerts recording some live footage and interviewing/commenting on their work. I will be doing highlights on certain artists and spreading their music.  I am hoping to start updating every friday or saturday after most open mic's, though I will be adding more in with the other concerts I go to and bands I highlight. If you would like to me to highlight a certain band let me know and I will try to get them involved!
